Sara Lewis Obituary

Sara D. Lewis
February 16, 1957 – January 3, 2021
Sara departed this life on the evening of January 3, 2021 at the rehab facility of Sligo Creek in Maryland. She was born February 16, 1957 to the late David L. Suggs Sr. and, Dorothy D. Jackson. Sara received her education from Kinston and New York city public schools. Throughout her life, Sara held several positions of employment in Kinston and the D.C. Metro area. She worked many years in the Social Service field becoming an invaluable employee/supervisor and blessing to the many clients she served throughout her employment.
Sara was an individual who gave love to everyone she was in contact with. (unless you pissed her off- then you got cussed out). To know her was to love her. She was a bestie to almost everyone whether it was family, friend or acquaintance. When you met Sara or “Deanne” called by family, you knew there was something special about her. There was never a dull moment. She was a pint size person, but her heart was so immense. If you became her friend, you soon became part of her family. When someone needed her the most she was always there. Although she had a relationship with God, she was no member of the clergy; however, she ministered to folks daily, whether in person or over the phone. She was the listening ear on the other side of the phone that helped you through whatever you were dealing with. She was your cheerleader if that was what you needed or a voice of reason. Sara or Deanne affectionally called by family was simply a beautiful soul.
Sara is survived by three brothers David L. Suggs Jr. (Maryann), Keith Suggs, and Kevin O. Jackson. Two sisters Kimberly Suggs and preceded in death Karen Suggs; Nephews: Lemel Johnson, Brandon Suggs; Nieces: Tanisha Ingram (Kelvin), Krystal Whitfield (Antonio), Shanekqua Cannon; Special cousins: Verna Lee and Sanna; and a host of great nieces and nephews. Family relatives of the Grices, Stewarts, Lewis, Thomas, and countless other family and friends.
