Lewis Herbert Wright II was born July21,1946, in Fredericksburg, Va to the late Lewis and Virginia Wright. He was the oldest of three children. He was baptized at a young age at Canaan Baptist Church in Washington, DC. He was educated in D.C. Public Schools and graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1966. While at Roosevelt Hebert obtained his letterman jacket for baseball, basketball and football. Lewis was affectionately called Lewis Herbert. Herbert attended North Carolina Central University where he played his favorite sport football. While playing as an offensive tackle he was “clipped “by the opposing team. That knee injury ended his football playing forever and continued to plague him in the years to come. Herbert worked for The Better Business Bureau before he moved to the Government of The District of Columbia, Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs. He retired in 2008, after 36 years of service. He earned many awards and citations, but one of the most prestigious was The Meritorious Public Service Award. Hebert married Veronica Elizabeth Clark and of his union one child was born- Kimberly Elaine Wright. Herb loved sports particularly football and horse racing. He was quite the dancer, smooth and he knew all the dance moves. Lewis married Sharon Scott in November 1984 and they were quickly approaching their 40th anniversary. Lewis was a dedicated, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He became an ordained deacon on November 23,2003, at Good Success Baptist Church in Washington, DC. He is survived by his devoted wife Sharon; children: Faith Dunson (Darnell) Valencia Scott (Gary) sister: Brenda Wright; grandchildren: Yasemine Arrington (James Brooks) Michael Mclarty (Edelmira) and Gary Jr. Mclarty, great granddaughters Renesmee, Cataleya and a host of other relatives and friends.
