Howard Monroe, Jr., entered this life April 6, 1948, in Washington, DC, born to Howard and Jennie Monroe (both preceded him in death), the fifth of six children.  He entered into eternal life on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at the age of 74.  Despite not having a church home, he attended many churches.  
 
Howard resided in Washington, D.C. until he relocated to Maryland later in adult life.  He was educated in D.C. Public Schools, Hines Junior High and then graduating from Chamberlin Vocational High. While in high school he was an avid sports athlete playing baseball, football and basketball; thus receiving a two-year scholarship to college.  However, he was drafted into the United States Army after graduating from high school.  
 
Howard was employed with St. Elizabeth Hospital for 37 years and retired in 2006.  While employed there he received numerous achievement awards and an Outstanding Certificate for “Touching Others Lives” and an Excellent Performance rating from April 1, 1991 to March 31, 1992.
 
Preceded in death: Frances Ann Crews (daughter) Detroit, Michigan.  Three sisters: Myrna Applewhite, Helen McKinley and Ruth Reid.  Michael Reid (nephew).  Howard leaves to cherish his memory:  Rosa Mingo (Sister) of Oxon Hill Maryland, Clarence Stringer (Brother) of Washington, D.C. Also left to cherish his memory are nieces and nephews:  Doretha West, Jeneen Mingo, Alfreda McKinley, Kathy Applewhite, and Stacey Jackson.  Richard Reid, George Moore, Mark Reid, James Reid, Jr., Roland Jones, and Rodney McKinley.  Long-time friend and family Gwendolyn Chappelle, Fralyn Posley, Vandore Chappelle, Donae Baltimor, Tyrek Posley and Courtez Chappelle.

He will be missed!
