Edgar "Eddie" Alexander Farve, Jr., age 80,
of District Heights, Maryland, formerly of New Orleans, Louisiana; passed away peacefully on April 4, 2023, at University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center (Largo, MD).
Eddie served 4 years in the United States Air Force (1960 -1964) and 2 years Air Force Reserves (1966). He finished his military career as an Air Policeman, Andrews Air Force Base, MD. He was employed by the DC Public Library, United States Postal Service, and District of Columbia Fire Department. He graduated with an Associate Degree in Applied Science, Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees from Washington Technical Institute and the University of the District of Columbia. He served the DCFD for 27 years courageously and heroically. He suffered several major injuries including severe smoke inhalation (1983), ending his career as a Rescue Squad Fire Captain, with 100% performance of duty retirement, January 1994.
Eddie is mourned by his beloved and devoted partner Tanya H. Deskins, Ed. D, daughter, Khanya Deskins-Christian, grandchildren, James and Kharis, nephew Dominic Pearson and sister-in-law Rev. Nikki Pearson. He is survived by two previous children Debbi Powell -Townsend, Edgar Anthony (Tony) Farve, a grandson, great granddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until Celebration of service at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, April 25 at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden, 3600 Brightseat Rd. Landover, MD 20785. 11:15 a.m., Interment will be held on Tuesday, May 9 at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery.
