Jeffery Jerome Hughes of Washington, DC entered eternal rest on Thursday, October 3, 2019 after a long illness at Future Care Rehabilitation and Wellness Center.

Born on November 23, 1951 to the parents Hazel and Sylvester Kelly who predeceased him in death along with his brother Wendell, sisters Brenda Hughes and Janet White.

Jeffery is survived by his loving wife Charlene Hughes, four children: Lisa (Phil), Dionne (John), Brenson (Ada) and Ronald Jr., 5 grandchildren: Brittany, Laquicia, Javon, Toni and Kevin, 2 great-grandchildren: Gabby and Elena. Two goddaughters: Aquanetta and Brianne, one brother: Gregory (Deborah), three sisters: Diane, Phyllis, and Kathy.

Mother-in-law Delores Dawkins. Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jeffery was a dedicated employee of Safeway for 42 years before retiring with health issues., starting with bagging groceries and working his way up to Produce manager. He was a faithful member of Delaware Baptist Church, participating as a member of the male chorus until his health begin to fail.

Jeffery loved the Redskins, WWF and playing cards.

Jeffery was a family man who loved pampering his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be missed by all.
