Janice Pauline (Butler) Cleveland, 73, of Washington, D. C., passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025.   She was born on November 9, 1951, a daughter of the late Arthur and Ruth Butler.  In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her son, Maurice Butler and sister, Carlotta Harrison.

She is survived by her husband, Wilmot S. Cleveland, her sister, Patricia Ward; daughters, Kimberly J. Cleveland and Angela D. Cleveland of Washington, D. C. and Deirdre C. Ramsey (Michael) of Virginia; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She attended Margaret Washington High School.  She worked at Lucent Technologies and the National Institute of Health before retiring from the FDA.

She attended Craig Memorial Church as a child and as an adult she was a devoted member of Park Road Community Church where she sang in the choir under the direction of Rhoda Sutton for over 30 plus years.

In her spare time,  she loved to shop with her sister and get her hair and nails done.  She also enjoyed going to her favorite restaurants, attending family events and hand dancing.

A memorial service will be held at Park Road Community Road Church, 1019 Park Road, NW, Washington, DC 20010 at 11AM on Saturday, May 17th, 2025.
