Rev. James L. Allen, Sr. Pastor Emeritus, Sargent Memorial Presbyterian Church (USA) Passed away on March 1, 2017, after a long illness. Rev. Allen was the Pastor at Sargent Memorial Presbyterian Church, in N.E. Washington, DC for 29 years. He served as a commissioner to the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church on three occasions and as Assistant to the Stated Clerk of the General Assembly for eight years. He was also a former moderator of the National Capital Presbytery. Rev. Allen was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Clara Tate Allen, and he leaves to cherish his memory two devoted sons, James L. Allen, Jr. (Adrienne) and Reginald F. Allen (Kisha), one granddaughter, Camryn N. Allen, four grandsons, James L. Allen, III, Joshua R. Allen, Jeremiah S. Allen and Jamal K. Adams, one brother, Bernard N. Allen, Jr. (Bonnie), one sister, Patricia L. Allen, three sisters-in-law Bobbie Cooper (Jack), Martha Warren (Cline), one brother-in-law James Tate (Elizabeth), multiple nieces and nephews, Felecia Allen, Victor Cooper, Cheryl Cooper, Vincent Cooper (Gina), Sonya Sheppard (Will), Jennifer Jones, James Tate, Angela Tate, Rella Rosboro, Webster Rosboro, Jr. (LaTonya) and a host of other family and many cherished friends. Visitation 9 a.m., until time of MEMORIAL SERVICE 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 11, at Sargent Memorial Presbyterian Church, 5109 Nannie Helen Burroughs Ave NE, followed by the memorial service at 11am.
